There are few things more convenient than living near one's workplace. The stress of commuting is minimal when the office is 10 minutes away by car, and sunny days afford the opportunity for leisurely walks home at sunset while coworkers sit in bumper-to-bumper traffic.
Baseball players have to travel the country during the regular
season, so this scenario isn't an option for six months out of the year.
The one time when this scenario does, in fact, play out for them is
during spring training, when all activity is localized either at the
Grapefruit League's training facilities in Florida or the Cactus
League's facilities in Arizona.
Check out where some of Major League Baseball's biggest stars live during spring training.

Check out where some of Major League Baseball's biggest stars live during spring training.
Alex Rodriguez
Rodriguez is an archetype of athletic excellence, a man who shatters long-standing baseball records as often and as effortlessly as most people do the laundry. When he’s not on active duty as a living legend, he's in spring training, and he owns a home in Coral Gables, Fla., that allows him to be near the Yankees' spring training facility in Tampa. The single-family dwelling was built in 1952. It isn't for sale, but if that changes anyone wishing to live the A-Rod lifestyle will need to have plenty of cash on hand -- the average list price for a home in the Sunrise Point neighborhood is $3,464,286, according to Trulia.com.Derek Jeter
Jeter has been a member of the Yankees for his entire Major League Baseball career. He joined the team in 1995 and 17 years later, he's still the Bronx Bombers' shortstop, a remarkable run by any standard. Jeter owns a home in Tampa, the city where his team conducts its spring training. Few details about the house are known, although county records state it sits on 1.17 acres of land. The value of the house is not known, but the average list price for a home in its Davis Islands neighborhood is $1,151,165.Grady Sizemore
Grady Sizemore is a native of Seattle who's played for the Cleveland Indians since 2004. During high school he played not only baseball but football and basketball, excelling in all three. But America's Pastime won out, and it's been a successful arrangement for all parties concerned. Sizemore's home is located in a tranquil cul-de-sac in Scottsdale, Ariz. It features a heated pool in the backyard, a covered patio and a fireplace.Hanley Ramirez
Hanley Ramirez plays both third base and shortstop for the Miami Marlins. The father of two and fan of rapper 50 Cent was already a standout baseball talent in high school, and he was setting batting records in his first year in Major League Baseball. The infielder owns a luxurious mansion in the Weston, Fla., gated community known as Windmill Reserve. The single-family lakefront home has marble and wooden flooring, a gym and granite counters. It was built in 2007.Matt Kemp
Kemp is an outfielder for the Dodgers who made his Major League Baseball debut in 2006. In 2011, the Oklahoma native was a National League leader in runs scored and total bases, and he stole 40 bases that season. Kemp owns a single-family home in Arizona's Paradise Valley that was built in 1999 and sits on a 57,717-square-foot lot. He purchased it in December 2010 for $2,050,000, and it includes a six-car garage.Nick Swisher
Swisher is the son of former baseball player Steve Swisher. He has played for the Oakland Athletics, the Chicago White Sox and, most recently, the New York Yankees, and he owns a home in Tampa that puts him right in the backyard of the team's spring training facility at George M. Steinbrenner Field. Swisher's home is not for sale, according to Realtor.com, but should he change his mind, potential future owners should be aware public records indicate they'll pay approximately $499,284 for the privilege.
